Unsplash: The Free Stock Photo Repository

Stock photo websites offer subscription based pricing to gain access to their library of photos. Unsplash does things differently. They offer all photos for free. It is one of the largest, if not the largest, stock photo websites with over 1.5 million photos. They don’t even offer a subscription. Try to pay for it. I dare you. You can’t.

I know what you are thinking: It’s probably terrible and the licensing wouldn’t allow for commercial use. Well, that is where you’re wrong! Just a few minutes of scrolling has shown me that there are very talented photographers posting quality photos with no monetary return. And their licensing terms are listed below.

Commrtcial use of over 1.5 million photos for the ultra low cost of FREE. Have you ever found yourself in need of a photo for an article that you just couldn’t get because the place is too far away, you don’t have the right product, or you missed the shot but wanted to include it in your brochure? Unsplash gives you the ability to do that with great photos for free.

They lack video, but maybe there is another option out there for that. Do you know of something? How about music/SFX? It would be awesome to cover photos, videos, and music/SFX with a commercial license for free.

Let me know what you think. I’d love to hear your comments on Unsplash and other free services for video and music/SFX. Leave a comment below or talk to me on Twitter.
